Letters by Job Type: Marketing Director

Tips for writing the perfect marketing cover letter!

The body of your letter should focus on your relevant experience. Even if you never had a marketing job, include experiences where you demonstrated skills and abilities required for the job. Use specific examples; you want your cover letter to expand your resume. One way to do this is to include examples of times you demonstrated the relevant skills and expertise for the job.

Skills and expertise would only take you too far, without keywords! Look for keywords in the job posting – words that emphasize the qualities the company needs. Include these keywords in your cover letter. Usually these keywords can be found in job descriptions posted by the company.

If you need help with the format, you can opt to use a cover letter template. However, when you use a sample or template, be sure to change the information to fit the job you are applying for.
